Sankeien Garden, a national place of scenic beauty, is home to clusters of lotus flowers that bloom on summer mornings.
The park opens early in the morning at 7:00 a.m. for a limited time only, offering a rare opportunity to enjoy the luxury of admiring freshly bloomed lotus flowers.
There are also hands-on workshops using lotus and a limited breakfast, so you can refresh your mind and body ◎.

Sankeien Early Morning Lotus Viewing Party Overview
Sankeien is a historic garden designated by the national government as a place of scenic beauty, built in the Meiji and Taisho periods. The founder of Sankeien, Sankei Hara, loved the lotus as a flower of high virtue because of its pure blooms from the mud, and it has continued to be a famous lotus viewing spot to the present day.
Usually from mid-July to early August, the lotus blooms in large, pale red and pure white flowers. The garden usually opens at 9:00 a.m., but during the “Early Morning Lotus Viewing,” the garden opens earlier at 7:00 a.m. because the lotus flowers start blooming around 7:00 a.m. and close at noon.
During this period, visitors can also experience lotus ecology and culture through workshops such as “making uchiwa (Japanese fan) with lotus leaves” (fee required; application required), lotus leaf shower, and lotus leaf mask making (free of charge).
The tea house will also offer limited menu items such as morning rice porridge, which is popular as a reward for getting up early.
