Outline of Hokkeumgang-in Kanren-kai
The garden of Hokkeumgo-in was built in the Heian period (794-1192), and the pond garden on the temple grounds is designated as a special national scenic beauty spot. The garden is designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty by the Japanese government. About 90 kinds of lotus flowers bloom in the morning sun, and their beautiful reflection on the surface of the water is a magnificent sight reminiscent of the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
During this period, the gates open early in the morning at 7:30 a.m., allowing visitors to view the lotus flowers when they open, providing an exceptional opportunity for flower lovers and photographers.
Enjoy the lotus flowers, which close before noon, in the quiet temple space.
- The spectacular scale of the exhibition features approximately 90 species of lotuses, including rare varieties such as Sokuhai lotus, Sei lotus, and Oji lotus, as well as Oga lotus, in full bloom in a variety of colors.
- A heart-warming moment in the early morning only in summer.
- Don’t miss the Jodo Garden, a pond garden with a circular path around it, designated as a special place of scenic beauty by the government.
