Hana-To-Cafe Catcalls

Hanato Cafe Nekonokoban in Takaido, Suginami-ku, Tokyo.

In February 2024, Nekonokoban celebrated its second anniversary since opening.
It is a flower café, a convenient place not only to buy flowers but also to use as a café for a break.

We interviewed the owner, Mr. Ota.

Unusual Flower Cafe

I have always loved plants and worked in a flower shop.
When I had the opportunity to open my own store, I wanted to make it a place where customers could stop by casually, so I decided to make it a flower café so that it would be a place where people could visit on a whim, not just to buy flowers.
Itryto make it acomfortablespace wherepeople can relax while looking at the flowers.

A full assortment of products. Colorful flowers to welcome you!

Cute sign. I can’t wait to go inside.

There is also a full coffee menu!

The restaurant also has a lot of plants, so you can relax while looking at them!

A full array of flowers

When purchasing flowers, I always go there myself and try to include as many varieties as possible, not to mention freshness. We believe this will make it easier for us to meet the wide range of needs of our customers.
I worked in a florist shop for a long time, so I use those experiences as well.

There were more pretty colors on this day. Many greens!

Seasonal items such as spring bulbs are also available.

Cafe is also authentic.

This place was originally my grandparents’ residence.
I renovated it myself and turned it into a store.
I have always loved making things, so most of the furniture in the shop was made by myself.
I make the coffee menu while remembering the aromas and tastes I encountered when I was backpacking around the world in more than 40 countries. The Lithuanian soup called gribienei that I served last October was also very popular, and I often make such dishes from overseas.

Cakes and sweets to be enjoyed with drinks are also popular.
As a flower café, we also use edible flowers to create products that are pleasing to the eye.

Tables and chairs handmade by Mr. Ota

This is also handmade. The store as a whole has a warm atmosphere.

Edible flower cookies that you can get when you order a drink.
