The Machida Yakushiike Park Shikisai-no-mori Shoubu and Hydrangea Festival will be held at two locations, the Yakushiike site and the Ebine-en site.
At the Yakushi Pond site, you can enjoy 175 varieties of iris (about 2,200 plants) decorating the surface of the water, and in the latter half of the festival, 42 varieties of hydrangea (about 1,000 plants) will be in full bloom. You can also enjoy guided tours by flower picking girls in Saotome costume and Machida sightseeing guides. Enjoy early summer flower viewing in Machida!

Machida Yakushiike Park Shikisai-no-mori Shoshobu and Hydrangea Festival Information
The “Iris and Hydrangea Festival” is an early summer flower festival that can be enjoyed in two areas: the Yakushi Pond site and the Ebine-en site. From mid-June, about 1,000 hydrangeas of 42 varieties will be at their best, including gaku hydrangea and western hydrangea. At the Ebine-en site, 17 varieties of hydrangea and approximately 5,000 hydrangea plants will turn the entire walking path blue and purple, and visitors will be showered with colorful flowers.
Admission to the park and the garden are both free. Restrooms and stores are available in the park, and the event can be comfortably enjoyed by a wide range of visitors, from families and photographers to flower-loving seniors.
Explanation of each venue
(1) Yakushi Pond site 【Hanashobu・Hydrangea】
Hana-shobu: Approximately 2,200 hana-shobu plants of 175 varieties including Edo, Higo, and Ise types will be in full bloom in the hana-shobu fields. Demonstrations of flower care by flower pickers dressed as Saotome girls are held two to three times a week (ends when all the flowers are gone).
The best time to see irises is from early to mid June.

Flower Iris Guide: Interactive explanations are provided by “Machida Tourist Guides” around the flower iris fields. You can listen to the characteristics of the varieties and learn tips on how to care for them as you walk around the field.

Hydrangea viewing: Approximately 1,000 hydrangeas of 42 varieties, including Gaku hydrangea and Western hydrangea, will be in bloom around the Hanashoubutan and in the hydrangea garden in Yakushiike Park.
The best time to see hydrangeas is from mid to late June.
Kitchen cars and general merchandise vendors: June 1 (Sun) – June 29 (Sun) 10:00 – 16:00 You can enjoy meals, drinks, sweets, etc.◎

(2) Ebine-en Venue [Hydrangea]
Hydrangeas: You can see about 5,000 hydrangea plants of 17 varieties at Ebine-en. Pets are not allowed in Ebine-en.
The best time to view the hydrangeas is from mid to late June.
Please note that there is no private parking lot or restrooms in Ebine-en.
