Sogo Reido Hydrangea Festival Overview

The hydrangea garden with 7,000 hydrangea plants that stretches across the area behind the main hall of Sogo Reido is like a painting, with a variety of gradations ranging from bluish purple to pale pink and pure white, blending with the fresh greenery drenched by the rain. If you visit during the rainy season, you will be able to enjoy a time of five senses as the petals reflect the light in the moist air and the sound of pure water reaches your ears.
On Sundays during the festival, a free tea ceremony is held in the former guest hall, and erhu, koto, and shakuhachi (bamboo flute) concerts are held in the hall of the main temple. The concert is free to enter and exit, and the interplay of birdsong and serene tones heard through the open windows is a luxury. A sale of produce directly from local farmers will be held on the grounds.

The walking path is nearly flat and has a moderate number of benches, making it friendly to visitors with children, the elderly, and those using wheelchairs or strollers. The area is relatively empty in the cool morning and evening hours, and one of its attractions is that visitors can enjoy the vast countryside as if they were renting the entire area.
